Lucky us, we just received a preview copy of La Condesa's upcoming lunch menu; unlucky us, they don't start serving it til December 1. In any case: it is full of items you'll find on their dinner menu, like pared-down versions of their ceviches, huaraches, and tostadas lists, and a new taco menu with options like a Berkshire pork Cochinita Pibil and a trumpet mushroom taco.
What we're most excited about, however, is the tortas menu: the eight tortas offered include a bacon wrapped hot dog, a Cuban, and the Veracruzano with salsa veracruzana, hard-boiled egg, cotija, tomatoes, olives, capers, roasted beets and saffron mayo. The question is, then, are Austinites willing to pay $10-$12 for a torta (even one with house-made chorizo) when they can get stellar ones elsewhere for $3?
