Texas Monthly's Megan Giller reviews North Loop trailer Counter Culture today, and were generally fans of the vegan cuisine, although a lavender chocolate dish was disappointing:
"Lavender" implies a certain delicacy, but this large chunk of frozen chocolate, studded with slivered almonds and dates, with a strange coconut aftertaste, melted in my hand long before some of it made it into my mouth.
That's not going to stop her from going back for dinner, though. [TM]
The Fearless Critic is a fan of the old El Meson location, not so much the new South Lamar spot: "We’re hoping the new restaurant finds its footing soon and evens out its execution; until then, we can’t justify passing Sazón for a Mexican meal in this neighborhood. We are happy to have these tacos a little closer to home, though." [FC]
The Blogs: Austin Food Ratings on Alamo Drafthouse wannabe Gold Class Cinemas a 7/10, Poco-Cocoa has found a new favorite posole spot at Taco More, Kathy Phantastic got all fancy at Foreign & Domestic, and Trailer Food Diaries was busy, going to Hat Creek Burger Co., The Peached Tortilla, and Kronic Krave Arepas.
