Zed's will be a mammoth restaurant and music venue (348 seats in the dining room! 9,000 square feet! Two stages, one of which fits 1,000 people!) going in at the TechRidge development near Parmer and I-35 in November. Unlike most (chain) restaurants in the area, Zed's is all about Austin: they plan to use local produce and meats, and Michael Hsu, who also designed Uchi, La Condesa, The Belmont and others, is working on the space. Executive chef Jim Matteson, formerly of Z Tejas and Truluck’s, will design the locally sourced menu. General Manager Rex Hutchison said, "We wanted to create a dining experience that made you feel like you are in Austin, even if you are in the northern suburban part of it."
