South Austin Beer Garden, which started construction in January 2015, is now open as of today, April 19. Located in far south Austin at 10700 Manchaca Road, it brings beer, food trucks, and a large patio to the area.
South Austin Beer Garden will have 53 beers on tap. The venue has a full liquor license, so there will also be cocktails (including draft and frozen ones) and wine, as well as plenty of non-alcoholic options to keep the family-friendly vibe, like frozen Coke as reported by Austin 360. Like so many other restaurants in Austin, local cocktail expert Justin Elliott consulted on the drink menu.
There will also be several food trucks on site, though only one has been announced. That is Cluck N Burger, a local truck whose menu spans burgers, tacos, and chicken fried steak. The space has a 3,000 square-foot deck, and ample room for games like tetherball and cornhole.
South Austin Beer Garden is the project of David Pearce and Ryan Thomas, who were recently bartenders at Dirty Dog Bar on Sixth Street, and Christopher Cantu, who owns retro Manor Road restaurant and bar 8 Track.
