June’s, Larry McGuire’s forthcoming seventh restaurant, will occupy the South Congress space vacated by Wahoo’s Fish Tacos late last year, according to city permits. While McGuire Moorman Hospitality Group has otherwise been tight-lipped on the details, McGuire told Eater that June's will become "a small neighborhood restaurant," serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
McGuire and partner Tom Moorman will create "a simple menu to complement a great wine and bar program," concocted by beverage director June Rodil, who earned her master sommelier designation in mid-2015. She will bring her deep knowledge of wine and spirits to the table at the bistro bearing her name.
La Barbecue had been eyeing that prime bit of real estate on the far end of South Congress’s tourist district for its inaugural brick and mortar, but those plans fell through. Since then that particular strip of SoCo has blossomed with the opening of South Congress Hotel (home of Cafe No Se and Central Standard and Paul Qui’s Otoko, opening March 2) and the super-modern Torchy’s flagship.
