Tamale House East, the colorful Tex Mex institution, has been serving delicious cheap fare, including migas and classic breakfast tacos, since March 2012. The East Side location is the remaining legacy of the Airport Boulevard icon Tamale House, founded by the late Moses Vasquez. His son, Robert Vasquez, headed the the restaurant until his passing in 2014, after which it shuttered.
Tamale House East is currently run by the fourth generation of the family, including owner Carmen Valera. Eater photographer Robert J. Lerma popped in over the weekend to capture the scene, where he encountered the bright space with plenty of lush patio, cocktails, and even a band serenading diners.
