Alcomar, the new coastal Latin restaurant from the El Chile Group, is now open on South First in the former El Chile space. The new project is run by chefs Alma Alcocer-Thomas, previously of Update: currently executive chef of El Alma, and Jeff Martinez, from El Chile. Instead of closing down while remodeling, El Chile remained open during the transformation into the seafood dining spot.
The piscine menu, which reflects the tagline "mariscos y mas," includes snapper, gulf oysters, shrimp, and scallops, as well as steak, chicken, and vegetables. Weekend and holiday brunch will be available from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The full bar includes cocktails, margaritas, and brunch-ready drinks like Bloody Cesar with raw oysters, and a watermelon-basil mimosa. The wine list includes wineries from Texas, California, Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, and more. The daily happy hour is from 3-6 p.m., with discounted bites and drinks.
El Chile Group began revamping the second El Chile space last fall. The first location is still open on Manor Road. Other restaurants in the group’s circle include taco shop El Chilito and Tex Mex burger cantina El Sapo.
Alcomar is open on Sunday and Monday from 11 a.m.-9 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m.-10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m.-11 p.m.
