The craft coffee and beer trend is spreading to South Austin. Radio Coffee and Beer is getting ready to open near Manchaca and Ben White this spring. The cafe's co-owner Jack Wilson tells Eater that the bar will feature 24 beer taps and Stumptown espresso, as well as tea and kombucha. Eater 38 member Veracruz All Natural will also open up a trailer there, and the cafe will serve in-house sandwiches and salads. Wilson says:
I grew up in Austin, going to Flipnotics and Bouldin Creek Cafe, and then toured the country playing music, visiting coffee shops and beer bars in almost every state. We are striving to create a public space for everyone from the new Lamar residents to the locals in the 78745. Radio is our home, we hope it will be yours. They've also hired baristas from the now-shuttered Flipnotics, and will host the cafe's popular Monday night bluegrass..
